Samanta Orellana, PhD

Hi there! I am Samanta, a Guatemalan biologist and entomologist interested in natural history collections. I am currently appointed a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Kansas Biodiversity Institute. My research focuses on the diversity and systematics of Neotropical fungus weevils (Curculionoidea: Anthribidae) and mobilization of specimen data and images. As part of the Symbiota team and the GBIF Network, I actively collaborate with Latin American collections to advance their biodiversity data initiatives.
